Why remortgage with The Mortgage Hut?
We started in Southampton in 2011 and we're still here, at Queens Terrace. Our team of around 15 advisors helps homeowners across Southampton and Hampshire every week.
- We look across the market. We compare deals from 90+ lenders, including some you can't get by going direct.
- We start early. You can usually secure a new deal up to six months before your current rate ends, so you're protected if rates rise.
- We do the legwork. From the application to the valuation and the solicitor, we keep things moving and keep you updated.
- We protect what matters. Our protection specialists can review your life cover and income protection at the same time, so your family is covered on the new mortgage.
When should you remortgage?
Most people remortgage for one of these reasons:
- Your fixed or tracker rate is ending and you want to avoid your lender's standard variable rate
- You want to borrow more for home improvements, an extension or a large purchase
- You want to change your mortgage term or switch between repayment and interest only
- Your home has gone up in value, which could put you in a lower loan-to-value band with better rates
- You need to remove or add someone to the mortgage
If you're not sure, book a free chat. We'll tell you honestly whether switching now makes sense, or whether staying with your current lender is the better option.
How it works
- Free first chat. By phone, video or in our Southampton office. We'll ask about your current mortgage, your plans and your budget.
- We search the market. Your advisor compares lenders and explains your options in plain English, including a product transfer with your current lender if that's the best fit.
- We apply for you. We handle the application, chase the lender and keep you updated.
- You switch. Your new deal starts when your old one ends, with no gap on the standard variable rate.
Remortgaging in Southampton
Southampton homeowners have a mix of property types, from Victorian terraces in Shirley and Portswood to new-build estates around the edge of the city and flats near the waterfront. Each comes with different lender criteria. Leasehold flats, new builds and non-standard construction can all affect which lenders will help, and that's where local experience counts.
We also help with more complex cases, including self-employed and contractor income, police officers, airline staff, adverse credit and buy-to-let remortgages.
What our customers say
We had a very easy and pleasant experience with the mortgage hut. We were securing an early mortgage due to rising rates and they managed to get us a good deal before rates rose. We were taken through all our options by David who explained everything but we never felt any pressure. Once we had picked an option then Nichola was brilliant keeping us up to date and answering all our questions clearly and quickly about anything we were unsure about. I will definitely be using again once this fixed term ends.

I cannot recommend Natasha and Fiona highly enough! They were absolutely fantastic throughout the entire remortgage process, making what can often be a stressful and complicated experience feel incredibly straightforward and seamless.
Their professionalism, knowledge, efficiency and attention to detail were exceptional. They were always approachable, responsive and happy to answer any questions, keeping me informed and reassured every step of the way.
A huge thank you to both Natasha and Fiona for going above and beyond. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend your services to anyone looking for knowledgeable, reliable and genuinely helpful mortgage brokers!

I can't recommend Emma Tribe and Natasha Hill highly enough. They have both been excellent throughout the whole mortgage process and helped me secure a mortgage in my sole name, something I had previously been unable to do without their support. They were incredibly knowledgeable, professional and supportive from start to finish. Communication was excellent, with regular updates every few days, which made a stressful process feel much more manageable.

Remortgage FAQs
How early can I remortgage?
Most lenders let you secure a new rate up to six months before your current deal ends. Starting early gives you time to compare and lock in a rate.
Will I have to pay an early repayment charge?
If you switch before your current deal ends, your lender may charge an early repayment charge. We'll check this before recommending anything.
Is it better to stay with my current lender?
Sometimes. A product transfer can be quicker and simpler. We'll compare it against the wider market so you can see the difference.
Do I need to see you in person?
No. Most of our customers remortgage by phone or video, but you're welcome to visit our Southampton office.
How much does it cost?
Our initial advice is free. We charge a fee of £898, payable only when your application is approved.
